It is a very rare occurrence that someone beats out the U.S. Government in federal court, but Troy Brinkley beat those odds this past Tuesday. Brinkely who was represented by Krasner & Hughes, was charged as a dealer in a narcotics distribution case. This case was the largest indictment ever in the eastern district of Pennsylvania, which is the federal district for Philadelphia.
Only two dealers out of the 69 defendants pleaded innocent, one being Troy Brinkley. Brinkley who was represented by Hughes & Krasner, was the only one of the defendants charged that was successfully defended and acquitted Tuesday. This case was very complex in that it involved hundreds of thousands of pages of documents, thousands of hours of video and voice recordings, and over 30 testifying government witnesses.
Dr. Norman Werther was convicted Tuesday and faces a 20 year minimum sentence for supplying thousands of narcotic painkillers to Philadelphia drug dealers.
